Borsch or borscht, as they say in our country, is beet soup or soup. This recipe is very popular in Ukraine, as it is rich in iron, antioxidants and has detoxifying properties. You should try it.


– 1 onion

– 500 g of beets

– 1 carrot

– 1 tablespoon of tomato paste

– 2 tomatoes

– 200 g of white cabbage

– 1 potato

– 1 clove of garlic

-3 teaspoons of sugar

-Olive oil

– Fresh dill

-100 g of green beans

– 500 ml of water

-2 liters of chicken soup

– half a tablespoon of vinegar

– salt

– pepper

Method of preparation.

Carrots and beets are washed or cleaned, then thinly sliced ​​or grated. Peel an onion and cut it into cubes. Boil the tomatoes, remove the skin and cut them into cubes. Chop the cabbage, chop the green beans and potatoes. Chop the garlic. Fry onion in a little oil, then add carrot and cook for about two minutes. Add the beets and cook for 3-4 minutes. Add tomato and tomato paste, then mix and cook for about two minutes.

Add 300 ml of water to the tomatoes and cook on a low heat for about 30 minutes. In another pot we cook the chicken soup. When ready, add the cabbage and cook for about five minutes, then add the green beans, potatoes and cook for about ten minutes. Mix the beets with the vegetables on the soup and cook for five minutes. Turn off the heat և add the spices, then put the lid on և leave to cool. Serve with finely chopped dill and cream.
